Klang boat capsize: Bodies of last two victims found


KLANG: Rescuers have found the bodies of the married couple who went missing after their boat capsized in the waters off Tanjung Harapan on Sunday (June 8).

The remains of Gan Hon Tat, 32, and his wife Careen Man, 29, were discovered 200m apart at 0.1 nautical mile off Tanjung Harapan near Northport here.

The search and rescue team, comprising five members from the maritime agency and six from the Fire and Rescue Department found their bodies at about 7.45am.

Their remains were sent to the forensic unit at the Shah Alam Hospital at about 8.50am.

In the tragedy that took place on Friday (June 6) evening at 0.3 nautical miles west of Tanjung Harapan, three people died.

The remains of three-year-old Darren Gan as well as Cheu Son Hin, 50, and Fong Yong Sen, 29, were found in the boat. Darren is the child of Gan and Man.

The sole survivor of the tragic incident was Alvin Chang Yan Qin, 17.

Initial investigations revealed that the boat, which was being test-driven, was operated by its owner at the time.

It was also believed that the victims were not wearing life-jackets when the incident happened.
