Malaysia disappointed over UNSC's failure to secure Gaza ceasefire

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has expressed regret and disappointment over the United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) repeated failure to pass a resolution for an immediate Gaza ceasefire, says Wisma Putra.

In a statement, it noted that the resolution had received clear majority support from member states but was blocked due to veto power.

"Malaysia strongly condemns the actions of the Zionist Israeli regime in killing civilians, committing genocide, and using starvation and restrictions on humanitarian aid as weapons of war.

"The international community must continue its efforts to ensure peace, security, and stability in the Middle East," it stated.

Malaysia also emphasised that a just and lasting solution can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
