Better for Tengku Zafrul to join party in unity govt than Opposition, says S'gor MB

SHAH ALAM: There is more to gain for Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz to join a party within the unity government rather than the Opposition, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

“I feel both sides do not deny his ability. Even the Opposition do not have that angle to attack (his record of duties).

“We are flattered that he wishes to join PKR, and I have said before that it is better that he joins a friend of this coalition.

“At least he will still be able to give his support and skills as compared to if he joined the Opposition. That would not be welcomed,” the Selangor Mentri Besar said when met after an e-bike handing over ceremony at the Selangor police headquarters Tuesday (June 3).

He also did not deny some friction might occur if the move was made but was confident it could be sorted out.

“I feel that there is merit (of him joining) even though it could lead to some ‘scarring’. But that can be overcome with robust discussions,” he said.

On May 30, Tengku Zafrul announced his resignation as an Umno supreme council member, Kota Raja Umno division chief, and Umno member.
