Challenges ahead for PKR, says Nurul Izzah


JOHOR BARU: Newly-elected PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar says that the party faces an uphill battle both externally and internally.

Before departing for her pilgrimage to Mecca, she will be involved in preparing the party for the upcoming Sabah state election.

"I am calling for all members to be involved in the Sabah state election. God willing, we are targeting a minimum of 13 seats," she said in her winding-up address during the PKR national congress at Persada International Convention Centre on Saturday (May 24).

She said that the task would be challenging, not only externally but also internally.

Nurul Izzah urged members to close ranks and work together to ensure the party does not lose its idealism, especially now that PKR is in government.

"Some ask 'how do I make a difference?' but the real question is 'how do we make a difference?'" she said.

She then expressed her desire to see an increase in women's support for PKR in the coming general election from the current 40%.

Nurul Izzah added that she believes that increased support from women would not only ensure victory but also bring positive changes to improve their lives.
