Nearly 800 traffic police to be deployed
KUALA LUMPUR: Six expressways and 25 major roads in the Klang Valley will see closures and diversions from May 23 to 28 to facilitate movements related to the Asean Summit 2025 here.
“JSPT personnel will be involved in various duties including VVIP motorcade escorts and traffic control.
“Our assets are already on standby, consisting of 36 cars, 313 high-powered motorcycles, 190 normal motorcycles, as well as tow trucks,” he told a press conference after giving a briefing to JSPT personnel, here yesterday.

A dry-run will be conducted tomorrow and Thursday, he added.
Comm Mohd Yusri said the road closures and diversions will be conducted in stages, between 8am and 8pm.
“Among the routes that will be affected are routes to the Kuala Lumpur city centre, routes to KLIA and Subang Air Force base, routes to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, routes to Istana Negara, and routes to hotels (for foreign delegates),” he said, adding that the public should avoid routes that will be involved in closures and diversions.
“We also advise the public to use public transportation, and to follow instructions from traffic police personnel,” he said.

“Commercial vehicles are also prohibited from entering the city centre during peak hours, which are from 6.30am to 7.30am and 4.30pm to 7.30pm, starting May 19,” he said.
Comm Mohd Yusri said any vehicles that are parked haphazardly will be towed.
“Thus, we hope for public cooperation by not obstructing traffic. If not, we have no choice but to tow the vehicles,” he said, adding that JSPT is also working closely with various agencies, including the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Works Ministry and local authorities.
“We hope the event will run smoothly, and appreciate the cooperation that is shown by the public.”
