Biker, 47, dies from crash with motorcycle in Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A male motorcyclist died on the spot after colliding with another motorcycle on Tuesday (May 13) at Jalan Parit Karjo near here at 8.30pm.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah said the victim was riding the bike with his wife from Senggarang towards Jalan Kluang when the accident happened.

“A motorcycle ridden by a 19-year-old local man from the opposite direction lost control and entered the lane passed by the couple,’’ he said in a statement.

He said this caused the two motorcycles to collide, resulting in severe injuries to the 47-year-old victim and his 46-year-old wife.

ACP Shahrulanuar said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, adding the 19-year-old youth also suffered serious injuries.

He said the victim was identified as local fisherman Safuan Othman from Kampung Sri Pantai, Senggarang, Batu Pahat.

“The victim’s wife and the youth have been admitted to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital Batu Pahat for treatment,’’ said ACP Shahrulanuar.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
