A total of 130 reports lodged against spa chain, say Johor cops

JOHOR BARU: Police have received 130 reports from victims who claimed to have been cheated by a healthcare centre since early May this year.

"Johor police have received 130 reports made against the chain since early this month, with losses valued at RM698,155," Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said on Tuesday (May 13).

Comm Kumar said victims were charged according to the "treatment packages" they chose, which could be done at any of the company’s branches nationwide.

"Victims only realised they had been cheated when they could not contact the chain to set up appointment dates," he said.

He added that the chain ceased operations of all its outlets without notice.

Comm Kumar added investigations are ongoing under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

On Monday (May 12), more than 50 police reports were lodged against the spa and wellness chain for allegedly failing to deliver services after collecting tens of thousands of ringgit from customers.
