Langkawi MP injured in car accident in Kedah

YAN: Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah has been injured after the car he was in crashed into an irrigation canal along Jalan Sungai Dedap-Yan here.

In the 10am incident on Monday (May 12), Mohd Suhaimi and his wife were headed to a funeral in Sg Limau town when a motorcyclist made a sudden U-turn in across his path.

In his attempt to evade the motorcycle, his car skidded and landed in an irrigation canal.

As a result of the accident, the Kedah Bersatu chairman cut his lip but his wife was unharmed.

However, the car they were in sustained severe damage, reported Astro Awani.

Mohd Suhaimi and his wife were assisted out of the car by people in the area.

Meanwhile, Kedah Bersatu deputy chairman, Datuk Salleh Saidin, confirmed the incident.

"He is safe and had an X-ray scan at Yan Hospital due to pain in his hip area. Thank God, everyone is safe. Thank you for all the prayers," he said.
