All election decisions must go through GRS Supreme Council, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: All decisions regarding the upcoming Sabah state election will be made in consultation with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Supreme Council.

During a working visit to Kunak on Monday (May 12), Chief Minister and GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said that it is important to making decisions that reflect the collective views of coalition members to maintain political stability.

“We will consult with the GRS Supreme Council before taking any further steps regarding the state election,” Hajiji told reporters.

He highlighted that ensuring unity within the coalition is crucial for implementing Sabah's development agenda, reiterating that government stability is a top priority.

Commenting on the current political situation, Hajiji noted that collaboration between GRS and Pakatan Harapan in Sabah is progressing smoothly, with mutual respect between the two parties.

“The current state government is the result of cooperation between GRS and Sabah Pakatan, and so far, there have been no issues,” he said.

Hajiji also expressed his respect for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership, stressing the state's commitment to fostering a stable political environment in line with the federal government’s objectives.

“During my recent meeting with the Prime Minister in Tawau, we discussed the importance of political stability and the need to understand the aspirations of the local people.

“We must listen to the voices of the people of Sabah to build a strong and unified political understanding for the future of the state,” he said.

Hajiji commended development initiatives led by Kunak’s assemblyman Datuk Norazlinah Arif, including the gazetting of the Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB) land as a village area.

“The state government remains committed to empowering rural development, and initiatives like this reflect our ongoing commitment to the well-being of Sabah’s people,” he added.
