CYBERJAYA: The decision on whether a minister or deputy minister should be removed from office rests solely with the Prime Minister, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the power of appointment is the Prime Minister's absolute prerogative.
"If the Prime Minister suspects, or has verified information, then it is entirely within his authority.
"There is no need for anyone to resign on their own," he told reporters after attending the 104th Immigration Day celebration here on Tuesday (July 21).

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim warned ministers, deputy ministers and office-bearers in government agencies against using their positions to attack fellow members of the Federal Government while campaigning during the upcoming state elections.
He said those found doing so would be asked to step down from their posts.
Elaborating, Ahmad Zahid reiterated that appointments and dismissals were matters that fell under the Prime Minister's prerogative.
