KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and federal health departments utilise a district-level illness database to deploy medical staff and machinery across state hospitals
“We have details of the clusters of illness for every hospital, and we use this information to prioritise where to send the manpower or machine first. We also use these data for follow-up actions,” State Assistant Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing, Datuk Rina Jainal said at the state assembly sitting here, Tuesday.
Rina answered a question from Sulabayan assemblyman Datuk Jaujan Sambakong regarding manpower allocation strategies.
Earlier, she said that the Sabah Health Department introduced a Cluster Hospital Service to address rural doctor shortages. This service merges regional hospitals and clinics to share resources, skills, and facilities.
Responding to Paginatan assemblyman Datuk Rusdin Riman on Ranau hospital upgrades, Rina noted patients can access nearby Desa clinics in Bongkud, Matupang, Nalapak, Narawang and Tampio.
