33 undocumented migrants nabbed during immigration raid in Seri Kembangan

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty-three undocumented foreigners were detained following a raid on an abandoned building in Seri Kembangan, used as an illegal settlement.

The operation, which was conducted at about 12.45am on Saturday (May 10), involved 40 Immigration Department officers.

"Checks were conducted on 73 foreigners, and 33 of them, aged between 25 and 60, were detained for various immigration offences.

"They were from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar and India," the Immigration Department said in a statement.

Initial investigation revealed the location was used by foreigners since 2020, it said.

"Basic utilities such as water and electricity were installed illegally.

"The department will conduct further investigation.

"Those detained were brought to the Immigration depot in Bukit Jalil," the department said.

Stern action will be taken against those who violate immigration laws, it added.
