Uphold constitution as our guiding principle, urges Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The increase in racially charged rhetoric has raised concern, prompting MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong to call for restraint from all parties.

"Today I was in Johor Bahru to chair the 10th State Liaison Committee Meeting.

"We also expressed concern over the recent surge in racially charged rhetoric. Such political chaos brings serious negative consequences to national and social stability.

"We urge all parties to exercise restraint and uphold the Federal Constitution as our common guiding principle.

"During the meeting, we had in-depth discussions on current national issues, including the mutual 90-day visa-free entry between Malaysia and China, the US reciprocal tariffs, e-invoicing, electricity tariff hikes, and the removal of subsidies for eggs and RON95 petrol — all of which have significant impacts on the people," he said.

He added that the Federal Territories MCA had recruited 200 new members, marking a morale-boosting achievement.

"Therefore, I strongly urge all state liaison committees and divisions to continue intensifying recruitment efforts and inject new energy into the party," he said.
