Muhammad Kamil confirms sending AMK chief nomination


BUKIT MERTAJAM: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim (pic) on Friday (May 9) night confirmed that he has submitted his nomination to contest the position of AMK chief.

Muhammad Kamil, who is also the political secretary to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said he intends to contest for the position so that he can continue the party wing's agenda.

"I have confirmed my candidacy to contest for the AMK chief and I ask my friends who are here tonight to support us so that we can continue our agenda in the time to prepare for the 16th general election.

"I just want all of us to return to the foundation of the Keadilan's struggle and not to stray from the spirit of Keadilan that is with us and celebrate Keadilan Madani because it is our call," he said while speaking at the Semarak Keadilan Kita MADANI Northern Region, here on Friday.

Also present were PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar, AMK chief Adam Adli Abd Halim who is also the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports as well as the leadership of PKR Penang, Kedah and Perlis.

Muhammad Kamil defeated Rawang state assemblyman, Chua Wei Kiat for the position of AMK deputy chief in the PKR elections in 2022.

Current AMK chief, Adam Adli on March 8, decided not to defend the position after confirming that he would contest for a membership in the Central Leadership Council (MPP).

Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah in her PKR deputy president campaign, said she wanted to uplift the position of women and the 4.4 million GIG workers who are young people.

The former Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament said that she would go down to the states to meet women to uplift their position through financial training and also women's mental health.

"So there will be programmes that I planned before the announcement (of contesting) of the election, namely that we want to uplift the position of women and the second, workers in the GIG sector involving 4.4 million young people, this is my campaign and it is not just about me or any individual, but for our party," she said.

Nurul Izzah in a statement on Friday confirmed her candidacy to contest for the PKR deputy president position in the party election on May 23. - Bernama
