MACC detains two Home Ministry officers in graft probe

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed the arrest of two Home Ministry officers and one civilian during an operation carried out on Wednesday (May 7).

The operation was carried out between 1pm and 5pm in Putrajaya.

The three individuals were detained to assist in investigations following information received on a corruption case linked to the expedited processing of citizenship confirmation applications.

MACC said the arrests are linked to Ops Outlander, an anti-graft operation launched in March 2025 to dismantle a syndicate involved in the fraudulent registration of non-citizen births as Malaysian citizens using falsified documents.

The Home Ministry is cooperating fully with MACC in this investigation, the statement added.
