TWO men died after they inadvertently electrocuted themselves while fishing at a bund, Malaysia Nanban reported.

S. Thinesh, 28, and M. Ranjit, 25, who were both from Perambalur city in Tamil Nadu state, had opted for a method known as electrofishing.

This entailed electricity being “injected” into a body of water to stun the fish into immobility.

The two men had also apparently tapped a nearby street light’s cable illegally to get the current they needed.

While they were holding the cables, the high voltage electrocuted both of them.

The two men reportedly died at the scene.

Local police have retrieved their remains and are investigating the incident.
