Lawyer offers free legal help to family of boy found in school van

JOHOR BARU: A lawyer has offered free legal assistance to the family of a five-year-old boy who died after being found unconscious in a locked school van.

Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said he contacted the deceased boy's parents after learning they needed legal support.

"I have arranged a meeting with the parents and the lawyer who is willing to offer them legal services on a pro bono basis."

"During the meeting, the boy's parents and grandmothers teared up while sharing their memories together. My heart goes out to them," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (May 6).

He added that the lawyer also explained and guided the family on the legal process and options available to them.

The boy was reportedly found unconscious in a school van outside a kindergarten in Taman Bukit Indah on Wednesday (April 30).

He was believed to have been left behind after the driver dropped off other students at around 7.30am.

The child was found at around noon and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
