KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians can now have greater access to Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) services following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the government and the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Education Foundation.
The MOU signing ceremony was held last Saturday (April 26) and was signed by Health director-general Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, on behalf of the Malaysian government, and UTAR Hospital Board of Governors chairman Academician Emeritus Prof Tan Sri Dr Chuah Hean Teik, on behalf of the foundation.
According to Muhammad Radzi, the MOU enables medical officers at the ministry’s facilities to refer patients who require T&CM services to the UTAR T&CM Centre, with a special discount on charges that the patients themselves must bear.
UTAR T&CM Centre is fully owned by UTAR Education Centre.
"The collaboration between the ministry and UTAR aims to expand access and strengthen the delivery of safe and quality T&CM services to Malaysians, in line with the National T&CM Policy, which recognises this service as an important component of the country's healthcare system," said Muhammad Radzi in a statement on Tuesday (April 29). – Bernama
