Teacher dies trying to set lap record at MIMC

MELAKA: A primary school teacher has died in an accident while attempting to record the fastest lap at the Melaka International Motorsports Circuit (MIMC) in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, on Sunday (April 27).

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said initial investigation indicates that the accident happened when the 48-year-old victim was navigating his sedan into a sharp bend on the circuit.

“However, upon reaching the corner, he lost control of his vehicle and veered off to the left side of the track.

“The victim, who sustained head injuries, was rushed to Melaka Hospital for further treatment but was later pronounced dead," he added, as reported by Sinar Harian.

The victim, who resides in Taman Pulai Perdana, Negri Sembilan, was pronounced dead at 10pm after several hours of fighting for his life at Melaka Hospital.

Dzulkhairi added that the victim’s Japanese-brand car has been sent to the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) for further examination.

The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he added.
