Students leave bribes for exam graders

STUDENTS who sat for a major exam in India’s Karnataka state apparently left cash with their answer sheets and wrote sob stories, pleading for a pass, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Two students made similar pleas, saying that they needed to pass the exam to have a chance with their girlfriends.

They left 500 rupees (RM25) for the anonymous grader.

Another student gifted 500 rupees to the grader to “get some tea” in exchange for a pass.

One of them attempted to drive a hard bargain, saying the grader would get his money only after letting him pass.

Other students did not offer bribes but begged the graders to let them pass.

For example, one boy wrote that he needed to pass the exam so that he could go to college.

Otherwise, he said his family would make him get a job.

Photos of the messages and attempted bribes went viral after they were posted by the graders.
