PKR chief vows to reclaim seat in GE16

PETALING JAYA: Political secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi (pic), who won the Indera Mahkota PKR division chief’s post uncontested, says he will work to regain the parliamentary seat in the next general election.

He pledged to continue mobilising members and woo those who turned rivals.

“The far greater task ahead is to reclaim the Indera Mahkota parliamentary seat and ensure PKR continues to lead in Putrajaya. That is our true battleground,” he said in a statement yesterday.

In the 2022 general election, the Indera Mahkota parliamentary seat was won by Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu), with the Pakatan Harapan (PKR) candidate finishing a distant second.

Meanwhile, Pahang PKR chief Rizal Jamin failed to defend his Lipis division chief post, losing to Mohd Hasim Mansor, who secured 516 votes.

Among other leaders who lost in the party elections in the state were ex-Benta assemblyman Datuk Dr Suhaimi Ibrahim, who lost the contest for the Bentong division chief post to Jeffrey Nizam, who got 285 votes.

Teruntum assemblyman Sim Chon Siang lost his bid for the Kuantan PKR division chief post to Fahkhrul Anuar Zulkawi, who secured 659 votes.

Academician Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan made a political comeback by winning the Jerantut PKR division chief post with 471 votes.
