KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across various regions in Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 5pm on Friday (April 18), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a post on its Facebook page.
Perlis and several areas in Kedah, including Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu, are on alert.
Severe weather is anticipated in Perak and districts of Kelantan such as Jeli, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang.
Regions in Terengganu, including Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman, are forecasted to experience adverse conditions.
Pahang's affected areas include Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, and Bentong.
Selangor districts like Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Langat, along with Kuala Lumpur, are expected to face severe weather.
In Negeri Sembilan, Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau are under the warning.
Sarawak regions, including Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song and Kapit), and Bintulu (Tatau), are expected to face adverse weather conditions.
Sabah's Interior (Beaufort), West Coast (Kota Belud), Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran), and Kudat (Kota Marudu) are also under the thunderstorm warning.
This warning is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
