KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay version of the TV programme, titled Classics Quoted by Xi Jinping, serves as a testament to the successful collaboration between Malaysia and China, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said this while congratulating the Malaysian and Chinese media on the collaboration.
He described the initiative as a meaningful milestone in deepening the cultural and media ties between the two nations.
“China Media Group (CMG) has long acted as a bridge of understanding between countries, and its efforts to promote cultural exchange are sincerely appreciated.
“I believe this collaboration will further enhance the longstanding friendship between Malaysia and China,” he said in a message read by the emcee at the China and Malaysia: Joining Hands for Shared Prosperity event here last night, in conjunction with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia from April 15 to 17.
The TV programme, produced by CMG, commenced airing on RTM and other mainstream media outlets in Malaysia on April 14.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang said the event marks a new chapter in Malaysia-China cultural ties.
“The programme serves as a valuable window into the rich cultural and philosophical roots of China, bringing our people closer in understanding and spirit,” he added.
Chang described Xi as a visionary leader and one whose deep humanistic values and cultural wisdom continue to inspire many.
Under Xi’s leadership, he said China has made significant progress in areas such as economy, science, technology and agriculture.
Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, said China and Malaysia are sincere and trustworthy friends who support each other.
“Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of our two countries, high-level exchanges have grown increasingly, and economic and trade cooperation has also improved,” he said in a video message.
Ouyang was confident that Xi’s visit to Malaysia would yield fruitful results.
Also present at the event were Star Media Group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt, chief operating officer Lydia Wang, and chief content officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng, Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Media Chinese International Limited Group editor-in-chief (Malaysia) Datuk Kuik Cheng Kang and 8TV chief operating officer Kevin Foo.
From CMG were its president Shen Haixiong, Asia-Pacific Station director Cao Yi, director- general and editorial officer Liang Jianzeng, and Asian and African Languages Programming Centre director An Xiaoyu.
Others in attendance included Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching as well as Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, Malaysia-China Friendship Association president Datuk Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan and CCTV.com chairman Guo Tong.
