Worker dies while working on telco tower in Tampin


TAMPIN: A 31-year-old telecommunications worker who fainted while working 60m above ground was pronounced dead after he was brought down by firemen.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said his team had received a report that the victim had fainted while working up the tower along Jalan Felda Jelai-Gemas near here around 4.20pm on Monday (April 14).

"We received a report that three workers were on the tower and one of them suddenly fainted.

"Rescue personnel who arrived there later immediately gave the victim oxygen before deciding to bring him down," he said.

Eight Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team (STORM) personnel who arrived around 6.50pm later brought the victim down and the operation was completed around 9.15pm.

However, medical personnel present confirmed that the victim had died.

His remains were then handed over to the police.
