Prioritise harmonising ties between Sabah Barisan and Sabah Pakatan first

KOTA KINABALU: Putatan Umno chief Jeffery Nor Mohamed calls for Sabah Pakatan Harapan and Warisan to rebuild ties supporting the federal unity government.

“There is nothing wrong with mending ties, as both parties support the same national agenda,” he said in a statement on Monday (April 14).

Jeffery, who is also the Sabah Umno election director, emphasised the importance of strengthening internal alliances before exploring broader political strategies.

“The foundation must be solid before we can plan the next steps. We need to consider the changing political landscape and how best to respond to it,” he said.

Jeffery said addressing Sabah’s pressing issues through strong and unified leadership must remain the top priority.

He was responding to Sabah PKR information chief, who called for Sabah Barisan Nasional to resolve its strained ties with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). This resolution aims to prevent Sabah Pakatan from being caught in the middle and potentially disrupting the preparations for the upcoming 17th state election, which is due by September this year.

Razeef had earlier welcomed Sabah Barisan and Umno chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s announcement of a partnership with Sabah Pakatan, viewing it as aligned with the aspirations of the Unity Government at the federal level.
