Flood evacuees in Selangor exceed 1,000


PETALING JAYA: The number of flood evacuees in Selangor has surpassed 1,000, with additional relief centres now open.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency, there are 1,411 flood evacuees across the Petaling and Klang districts as of 6am on Saturday (April 12).

Six temporary relief centres have been opened.

Some 1,011 evacuees are being housed across four temporary relief centres in Petaling.

A total of 400 evacuees are taking shelter across two temporary relief centres in Klang.

On Friday (April 11), heavy rain in the early hours caused chaos in parts of Selangor, with housing areas and even highways affected by flash floods.
