TAPAH: Family knows no boundaries – whether by blood or by bond.
In a heartwarming display of unity, the Chinese in-laws of Barisan Nasional’s Ayer Kuning candidate, Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, stood proudly by his side during a dinner hosted by the MCA here.
The gathering demonstrated very much that love transcends racial and blood boundaries with Mohamad Yusri’s wife, Rosnani Mahmud, being the central figure.
Rosnani, 53, whose life story bridges cultures and families, was adopted by a Malay family since birth.
Her 90-year-old biological mother, twin sister Sally Yap Chin Ma, and other biological siblings were among the attendees at the dinner held in Kampung Baru Coldstream here.
Rosnani reconnected with her Chinese roots at 12 and since then, love has defined their unbreakable bond.
“Since then I have been in touch with them. I was born in Kuantan, and later my Chinese family moved to Sungai Buloh,” she said.
Now, as her biological family rally behind her husband’s campaign, their presence sends a powerful message of strength in diversity.
Sally, who lives in Sungai Buloh, shared that Rosnani is five minutes older than her. They are the youngest among 11 siblings.
“Mohamad Yusri is very close to our family. He always joins my sister at family gatherings and helps care for our mother, even providing financial assistance when needed.
“We feel it’s important to be here for him, just as he has always been there for us,” she said.
Sally said four other siblings also came along, and that they would be joining Mohamad Yusri for nomination today.
The event yesterday, organised by Tapah MCA, was also attended by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, who is also the Tapah MP, alongside the candidate himself.
