Landslide damages house in Gombak

PETALING JAYA: A house was damaged following a landslide incident at Kampung Orang Asli in Batu 12 Gombak here on Friday (April 11) morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 5.05am.

He added the department immediately deployed a team from the Selayang Fire and Rescue station to the scene, located about 9km from the station, and arrived at 5.28am.

“The landslide struck and damaged the wall of a residential house measuring 40 by 40 square feet. However, no victims were reported to be involved in the incident,” he said in a statement.

Wan Md Razali added that a total of six firefighters, supported by one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle, were involved in monitoring and ensuring safety at the location.

“The on-duty personnel also conducted monitoring around the area and provided safety advice to nearby residents to prevent any untoward incidents following the landslide.

“The station chief and the District Land Office have also been notified of the incident for further action,” he added.

In light of the incident, Wan Md Razali advised the public to always be alert to changes in soil structure, especially in hilly or sloped areas, particularly during the rainy season.
