IGP: Samsuri not a criminal, not under surveillance

PETALING JAYA: There is no reason for Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar to be placed under surveillance as he is not a criminal, says Tan Sri Razarudin Hussain.

According to Sinar Harian, the Inspector-General of Police said that the Terengganu Mentri Besar was mistaken in his claims about being placed under the "Travel Control Office/Order" (TCO).

"The term TCO used by him in his social media post is also incorrect because TCO is actually a police officer on duty at the country's entry and exit points.

"He is not a criminal who needs to be placed in on a watch list for wanted individuals (criminals) who need to be detained inside or outside the country," he said.

"In fact, his position as a menteri besar also requires protection and security from escort officers consisting of the police themselves, so indirectly all his movements are known," he said on Friday (April 11).

He said that every VIP, like a mentri besar who passes through the country's entry points, will use a special route and will be accompanied by assigned officers.

"In addition, it is normal for a menteri besar who wants to go abroad to be asked related questions to facilitate the police in carrying out security control at the destination," he said.
