Man arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in JB


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 27-year-old local male suspected of an armed robbery case involving an Indian national.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said a police report was lodged on Wednesday (April 9) by the 35-year-old man from India claiming that he had been robbed by a man holding a weapon resembling a pistol in Taman Nusa Bestari.

“Based on such information, on the same day, police arrested a suspect in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here,” Comm Kumarasan said.

ACP Kumarasan said checks on the suspect found he has a criminal record of 11 prior cases against him and also tested positive for drugs.

He added that police have seized several items from the suspect, including a motorcycle, a motorcycle helmet, an object that resembles a pistol, a mobile phone and RM68 in cash.

“The suspect is currently under remand to assist with the investigation,” he said.
