Lamborghini driver refutes claims he was arrested in KL for driving without licence

PETALING JAYA: A 28-year-old Chinese national has refuted claims that he was arrested and his luxury sports car impounded by authorities in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Sinar Harian, the man, Deng Sheng, said that there had been news reports claiming that he had been arrested for driving a Lamborghini Aventador without a driving licence.

"I was not arrested. I have a driving licence. The Lamborghini was also not impounded," he said.

He said that he was issued a summons when he was unable to produce his international driving licence during a Road Transport Department (JPJ) roadblock at Jalan Bangsar.

He insisted, however, that he had a valid driving licence but had not been able to produce it during the roadblock.

"I wish to respond to the fake news that went viral yesterday that claimed I was arrested. This is not true," he said.

He added that the JPJ officers were friendly and professional during the traffic stop and issued him a summons after he explained that he was unable to produce his driving licence.

"Unfortunately, this fake news has caused a lot of problems for me. It has affected my reputation, business and private life.

"Please stop spreading this false information," he said.
