SUBANG JAYA: Families affected by the recent gas pipeline fire have been given essential relief items from the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC).
MRC chairman Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah presented the aid packages during a visit to the temporary relief centre at the Putra Heights Mosque on Wednesday (April 9).
The visit by the Tunku Temenggong of Kedah is part of MRC's ongoing humanitarian response to support communities affected by the April 1 incident.

"MRC is committed to being present with the community not only during disasters but throughout the recovery process.
"The strength of our volunteers and spirit of humanity they bring makes all the difference in times of crisis," Her Highness Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz said in a statement issued to the media.
She said MRC personnel will be on hand to assist the victims as long as needed.
Since the incident, MRC swiftly mobilised its emergency response team, deploying over 30 trained volunteers from the Selangor chapter, supported by the Kuala Lumpur chapter.

MRC said they were among the first responders to arrive on the scene and rendered immediate first aid to burn victims while transferring the injured to nearby hospitals.
Her Highness Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz arrived at the relief centre at about 10.45am and spent about an hour meeting families.
On April 1, a gas pipeline fire broke out in the neighbourhood, resulting in flames soaring over 30m high with temperatures reaching 1,000°C and took nearly eight hours to put out.
A total of 87 houses have been declared a total loss.
On Tuesday (April 8), Selangor police said 270 other houses have been deemed fit for occupancy after repairs.
