Perak Sports Council now has its own hydrotherapy pools for athletes' rehab

IPOH: The Perak Sports Council is the first state sporting organisation in the country to have its own hydrotherapy pools.

The pools, built at a cost of RM1.9mil, were launched by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad at the State Sports Council building here on Wednesday (April 9).

In his speech, Saarani said the pools, which consist of a hot and a cold pool, are meant to help athletes with rehabilitation and recovery.

"The pools are a strategic investment to enhance the rehabilitation and recovery system for athletes scientifically and clinically.

"The pools play an important role in accelerating muscle tissue recovery, lessening stress on joints and supporting the entire rehabilitation process.

"The pools will also help enhance the physical and mental strength of our state athletes ahead of major games at the national and international stage," he added.

In a separate press conference, state sports committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanapiah said construction on the pools started in January last year and was completed in February this year.

"The pools are among the most advanced," he said.

The Perak Sports Council's new logo was also launched at the ceremony, and Saarani presented a total of RM125,000 in grants to 45 state sports associations and Persatuan Sukan dan Rekreasi Orang Kurang Upaya (Pesron).
