Pedestrian, 66, killed after being hit by car in Johor


JOHOR BARU: A pedestrian died after he was hit by a car on Jalan Sutera Chengal, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai near here at 7.55pm on Thursday (April 3).

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the incident was believed to have taken place when the 66-year-old male victim suddenly crossed the road.

“The victim was knocked down by a car driven by a 29-year-old male,” he said in a statement.

ACP Balveer said following that, the car was hit from the rear by a multi-purpose vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman who was unable to avoid it.

“The pedestrian suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot while both drivers escaped unhurt,’’ he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Balveer called upon those with information on the case to contact the investigating officer Insp Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966.
