KOTA KINABALU: A crocodile hiding in wait for prey in Menumbok sub-district has been captured.
The Civil Defence Force (APM) said it received a report from a fisherman preparing to go down to the river, who noticed the reptile beside his listing boat early Friday (April 4) morning.
The man alerted the authorities, and a team was sent to respond at around 2am.
Upon reaching the area in Kampung Tepi Laut, the three-member team managed to capture, bind and secure the reptile by 5.50am.
The 230kg crocodile, measuring almost 4m in length, will be handed over to wildlife officials for further action.
No injuries were reported.
