Working to get victims’ homes in order swiftly

PETALING JAYA: The necessary support in repairing or completely rebuilding victims’ homes is a priority for the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

The priority of doing so is among the proactive measures being studied to aid those whose homes were affected by the fire in a neighbourhood in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, on Tuesday, said Minister Nga Kor Ming (pic).

He expressed commitment to find the “right and appropriate mechanism” to help victims resolve their housing woes.

“While investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing, the ministry is ready to engage with all stakeholders, including the Selangor government and PETRONAS to consolidate housing matters,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Acknowledging that rebuilding efforts will take time, Nga assured the victims that the ministry is actively studying proactive measures to hasten the process.

He also expressed appreciation to frontliners, including teams from the Fire and Rescue Department, for their efforts in handling the blaze as well as officials of mosques and those from the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple who assisted the victims.
