Subang Jaya inferno: Anwar arrives at scene of disaster

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived at the site of the gas inferno in Putra Heights here.

Anwar arrived at about 4.50pm on Tuesday (April 1) and headed straight into a makeshift camp set up by police in front of the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple to be briefed on the latest developments.

Among those present were Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shaari, Subang assemblyman Michelle Ng and PETRONAS Group CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz.

The inferno in Putra Heights in Subang Jaya was visible from kilometres away and started around 8am.

Firemen from Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Puchong fire stations were deployed to deal with the blaze.

Images and videos of the inferno, some showing destruction caused to nearby houses, flooded social media.

In one video, the wall of the house is peppered with holes, possibly caused by shrapnel from the initial explosion.

Clothes hanging out to dry are singed and charred as the flames rage on in the background.
