Fair weather greets nation on first day of Hari Raya

PETALING JAYA: The nation has been greeted with fair weather and good air quality on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Although a pre-dawn thunderstorm warning was issued for several states on the west coast of the peninsula and Sarawak, the skies were generally clear during the early part of Monday morning.

However, the ICON and Global Forecast System (GFS) weather models forecast rain and thunderstorms later in the evening.

The weather may affect several west coast states such as Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Penang, including Kuching and the west coast of Sarawak.

The Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims) shows moderate readings for the peninsula except for Mentakab (37) and Kuantan (49), which have good quality readings.

Only Kuala Terengganu has an unhealthy air quality reading of 131.

The Apims air quality readings range from good (0-50), moderate (51-100), unhealthy (101-200), very unhealthy (201-300), and hazardous (above 300).
