KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek describes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia's "best salesperson" to promote the country's products internationally, thus increasing demand.

He said Anwar's ability and authority in strengthening trade relations with foreign countries like China, Turkey and India, which are also the largest importers of Malaysian palm oil, would help ensure an increase in national revenue.

"Our revenue depends a lot on prices, which are determined by supply and demand, but we believe that one of the key factors is the confidence people have in Malaysia.

"I dare say to all settlers, there is no better 'salesperson' to boost the prices and value of our products than the Prime Minister," he said in his speech at a breaking of fast event with the Prime Minister here Wednesday (March 26).

The event was attended by about 1,300 people, including 400 representatives of the new generation settlers from Felda Trolak, Perak; Felda Mempaga and Felda Jengka, Pahang; as well as Felda staff and subsidiary representatives.

Also present were the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Earlier, Anwar held a meeting with Felda's top management here. -- BERNAMA
