Johor Pakatan says it expected BN to go solo

JOHOR BARU: Johor Pakatan Harapan says it had anticipated Barisan Nasional's decision to contest all 56 state seats on its own in the upcoming state polls.

In a joint statement, Johor Amanah chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, Johor PKR chief Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Johor DAP chief Teo Nie Ching, said the state coalition was prepared for any political eventuality in the state.

"In a mature democracy, political parties are free to decide whether to cooperate with or compete against any party. As such, we respect their decision to contest all 56 state seats on its own.

"We had anticipated this possibility and are fully prepared to face the state election in a democratic, mature and responsible manner," they said in a statement on Saturday (May 16), reported Sinar Harian.

Johor Pakatan also claimed the state's current development and stability were not achieved single-handedly but through close cooperation between the state and Federal governments.

Johor Pakatan said it would hold further discussions with the central leadership to determine its next course of action.

On Saturday, Johor Barisan confirmed that it would contest all 56 seats in the state polls.
