IPOH: A total of 230 students from the Tambun parliamentary constituency have benefited from the Madani Educational Assistance Programme 2026 to pursue their studies at institutions of higher learning, involving allocations amounting to RM178,000.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's special officer Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri said the programme was implemented as part of continuous the Tambun MP's efforts to ease the financial burden on students and their families amid rising education costs and living expenses while pursuing higher education.
Under the initiative, diploma students received RM500 each, while undergraduate students received RM1,000 each to help cover learning needs, accommodation, transportation and basic study expenses.
"The symbolic handover of assistance to 10 students was officiated by Anwar during the launch of the Paduri Madani Scheme held at the Bandar Baru Tambun Multipurpose Hall today," he said in a statement on Saturday (May 16).
The remaining 220 students received their aid at a separate ceremony.
Mohamad Hairul said the programme reflects the Tambun parliamentary community service centre's continued commitment to education and human capital development, particularly among the younger generation.
"Apart from easing the financial burden on families, it is hoped that the initiative will boost students' motivation to focus on their studies and achieve academic excellence in their respective fields.
"The Madani Educational Assistance Programme is also in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, which emphasise the well-being of the people, human development, quality education and equitable opportunities for all, regardless of background," he said.
He said the Tambun parliamentary community service centre remains committed to strengthening various welfare and educational initiatives to ensure that students, particularly those in the Tambun constituency, continue to receive appropriate support in pursuing their studies and building a better future. – Bernama
