Pasir Gudang Hospital to be in operation soon

JOHOR BAHRU: Construction of the Pasir Gudang Hospital, costing more than RM380mil, is almost complete and will be operational soon.

Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said construction of the hospital is fully completed and only awaiting the installation of medical equipment for it to begin operation.

"The Public Works Department will conduct tests on all systems soon to ensure they function properly.

"After that, officers from the Health Ministry will conduct detailed inspections to ensure that all aspects of the construction and equipment meet the stipulated technical, engineering and medical standards," he said in a statement on Friday (March 21) night.

Earlier, Ling accompanied Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad to check on the progress of the hospital project.

According to Ling, the Health Ministry has also allocated an additional RM81 million for the purchase of medical and non-medical equipment for the hospital.

"The team expects all system installations and testing to be completed by June 12 and the hospital will then be fully handed over to the Health Ministry.

"To date, more than 1,845 positions have been approved for Pasir Gudang Hospital, and the authorities are arranging and placing the necessary staff," he said, adding that the hospital will operate in phases according to the needs and readiness of the available facilities.

The hospital will have 14 specialist medical departments and a capacity of 304 beds. - Bernama
