Police looking for car driver in Ampang hit-and-run accident


KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for the driver of a car that injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident on Jalan Bunga Mawar, Taman Muda here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said they received a report on the hit-and-run at 12.39am, adding that preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was crossing the road at 8.19pm on Monday (April 13) near a pedestrian crossing when the incident occurred.

"A car of unidentified make and registration came from the right and hit the victim.

"The victim was thrown to the middle of the road and suffered severe injuries and was taken to Ampang Hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement today, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Khairul Anuar urged the driver involved to come forward and lodge a police report at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters.

He also urged any witnesses to contact the police at 03-9274 0112. – Bernama
