Baby croc causes stir at Kota Kinabalu home during sahur

KOTA KINABALU: A crocodile that appeared at the front door of a house caused a stir for a family preparing for their sahur (predawn meal before fasting) early Saturday (March 22) morning.

The family initially thought the reptile was a monitor lizard when they first spotted it outside their house in Kg Likas at about 3am.

Upon realising it was a baby crocodile, they immediately sought help from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu APM officer Captain Aizex Junior said they quickly dispatched a team to capture the crocodile, which measured about one metre and was just outside the parking garage of the house.

The crocodile moved to the backyard bushes, and after a search, the team managed to capture it hiding behind some plants within the house compound.

He said the baby crocodile weighed about 10kg and would be handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department for further action.
