KOTA KINABALU: The state government appreciates and acknowledges the sacrifices of frontliners, including security forces and health personnel, in safeguarding the people’s well-being, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Sabah Chief Minister said frontliners and security forces have always been at the forefront of rescues, emergencies and critical situations, putting their own lives and health at risk.

“We are truly thankful for their sacrifices for the public in general,” he said when presenting Hari Raya biscuits and goodies to security forces and health personnel at Menara Kinabalu here on Tuesday.

Reminding the public of their sacrifices, Hajiji said Sabah has been badly affected by natural disasters, including recurring floods and fires, since last year.

The flood-affected districts include Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Telupid, Pitas, Beluran, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, Beaufort, Tongod, Paitan and Penampang.

“There is also a Meteorological Department warning of continuous thunderstorms from now until March 21, expected in Sabah, Sarawak and south of Peninsular Malaysia,” he said.

“During every disaster, these frontliners, especially the uniformed groups, are those who arrive first to carry out rescue and emergency operations,” Hajiji said, adding that programmes such as presenting festive goodies are important to show appreciation to them.

He hopes such gestures will encourage others to follow suit and show their appreciation to these personnel while motivating them to continue carrying out their duties.

Earlier at the event, a total of 33 ministries, departments and government-linked companies were involved in presenting goodies to 15 security units and health departments statewide.
