Cabinet approves T&Cs for Ocean Infinity's search for MH370, says Transport Minister


PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet has given final approval to the terms and conditions of the service agreement with Ocean Infinity (United Kingdom) for the search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Ministry said the Cabinet had given its final approval to the terms and conditions on Wednesday (March 19).

"With Cabinet’s final approval today, the Transport Ministry will represent the Malaysian government to sign the agreement with Ocean Infinity.

"This paves the way for Ocean Infinity to proceed with seabed search operations to locate the wreckage of flight MH370 in a new area estimated at 15,000 square

kilometres in the southern Indian Ocean based on the 'no find, no fee' principle," Loke said in a statement Wednesday.

He added that under the principle, the government will not be required to pay Ocean Infinity unless the wreckage of the aircraft is discovered, with a success fee amounting

to US$70mil (RM310,4mil).

Loke also said the government is committed to continuing the search operation and providing closure for the families of MH370 passengers.
