DAP's social media accounts hacked

PETALING JAYAL DAP's official Facebook and Instagram accounts have been hacked with inappropriate images uploaded to their stories at about 11am on Monday (March 17).

In a statement on Instagram, the party confirmed the incident and assured that its team was working to remove the images and secure the accounts.

"This morning at approximately 11am, we were alerted of inappropriate images uploaded onto our Facebook and Instagram stories.

"Our HQ team is working to remove all these images, changing the passwords of accounts linked and limiting page access," the statement read.

The party also clarified that any suspicious activity from its official accounts was the result of a "cyber attack" and did not reflect DAP.

The incident occurred just a day after DAP concluded its central executive committee (CEC) election at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.

The election, held following the party's 18th National Congress, saw 4,203 delegates from 1,650 branches casting their votes.

Gobind Singh Deo, who secured the highest number of votes, was elected as the party’s national chairman, with Nga Kor Ming as his deputy.

Anthony Loke was re-elected DAP secretary-general with Steven Sim, Hannah Yeoh, and Ramkarpal Singh as his deputies.

The five vice-chairmen are Chong Chieng Jen, Teo Nie Ching, Ng Suee Lim, Syahredzan Johan and J Arul Kumar.
