Thunderstorm warning issued for multiple regions in Malaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in several areas across Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 5pm on Sunday (March 16).

In Perak, the affected areas include Larut, Matang, Selama, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim.

Pahang's Rompin is also on alert.

In Selangor, districts such as Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang are expected to experience severe weather, along with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

The warning extends to Johor, covering Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru.

In Sarawak, affected areas are Serian, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang.

Sabah's inland regions (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort), west coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud), Tawau, and Kudat (Marudu City) are also under the thunderstorm warning.

Warnings are issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.
