Warning of thunderstorms in the country until 7pm Friday


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 7pm Friday for almost the whole country.

In Kedah, the affected areas include Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while similar conditions are also forecast in Penang and Perak.

In Kelantan, it involves Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang; Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu and Dungun); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera and Rompin) and Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang).

Other areas to be affected in the peninsula are Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Baru).

In Sarawak, similar weather condition is expected to hit Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Matu), Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu, Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang, while in Sabah it involves Tawau (Lahad Datu). - Bernama
