Claims that GRS-PH Plus government has failed are untrue, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Claims that the GRS-PH Plus government has failed are mere political rhetoric, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said Sabah has achieved steady economic growth, infrastructure development, and expanded educational assistance under GRS-PH Plus.

Hajiji dismissed the accusations as baseless, saying the state's progress speaks for itself.

"Many things have been accomplished, yet some still say the GRS government has failed. How is that possible when we have managed the state well?" he said during a breaking of fast event in Sukau, Kinabatangan, on Saturday (March 15).

He said those branding his administration as a failure are unwilling to acknowledge its successes.

"People who claim the GRS-PH Plus government has failed are only those who dislike us. They refuse to accept that we have governed Sabah effectively," he said.

Key achievements include increased state revenue, major development projects, and enhanced financial aid for students.

The government, he said, has worked to reduce the financial burden on Sabahans.

"We secured an agreement with PETRONAS, proving we can negotiate and govern effectively. If we were incapable of managing the state, these achievements would not have been possible," he said.

Hajiji added that investor confidence in Sabah has strengthened due to stable administration and sound governance.

"Investors continue to come to Sabah because they see that we are managing the state well. We have clear development plans, and we are committed to implementing them for the benefit of the people," he said.

With the 17th Sabah state election (PRN17) approaching, Hajiji, who is also president of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), said he is confident the people will support GRS-PH Plus again.

"The biggest challenge, of course, in politics is that anything can happen, but we are very confident that we will prevail and win this state election," he said.

He urged the people of Sukau to reject misinformation and support the current administration to ensure continued progress.

"We want Sabah to continue advancing, and that is why we need to back GRS-PH Plus. Unlike certain leaders who only make empty promises, we focus on delivering results," he said.

He said the government remains committed to inclusive development and fair governance, ensuring all communities benefit from the state’s policies.

"If given the mandate again, we will continue implementing development plans under the Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap, including in Sukau, Lamag, and Kuamut," he said.

Hajiji said that with the newly established district office, administrative efficiency would improve, creating opportunities for further development in key industries like tourism and agriculture.

He added that with better governance and strategic planning, the area would experience stronger economic growth.

At the event, Hajiji presented aid to the underprivileged, school supplies to students, wheelchairs from the Social Welfare Department, and Sabah Maju Jaya housing keys to eligible recipients.

He also received membership applications from former Sabah Perikatan Nasional deputy liaison chairman Aksyah Nasrah and 11 former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) branch chiefs, strengthening GRS-PH Plus’ grassroots support.
